COMMON Pests

Cockroach pest control

Local Pest Control Illawarra treat cockroaches by starting with an inspection of the property. Once the inspection is completed we will treat the area by using a range of treatment options. Gel baits which are placed in area where there is activity, granular bait is normally placed on external areas of the property, dusting sub floor, dusting the roof void and using pest sprays.

If the house is on a concrete slab we will dust the weep holes as cockroaches like to hide and nest in those areas as they are out of the elements and safe from predators. When doing a cockroach treatment, we like to create a barrier in the yard so the roaches do not enter the house.

An infestation may accidentally occur by bringing them into the house from second hand goods, fresh food delivery, storing boxes in your home or buying electronic items which may have ootheca (the egg case of cockroaches) inside the cardboard cells.

Although the German cockroach is occasionally seen during day, especially if the population is crowded or has been disturbed, sightings are most frequent of an evening, when lights are suddenly turned after the room has been in dark, such as a kitchen where they have been scavenging. When excited or frightened, the species emits an unpleasant odour.
